WEEK 4

We end the month in 1 Timothy 4:12, where we learn about Timothy and the work he did with Paul. Timothy was young, and he could have let that stop him from helping Paul carry out the mission of sharing Jesus with others. Yet Timothy chose to be brave and let God use him to teach others about Jesus in spite of his age.

Bottom Line: You can make a difference right now. Can you think back to the first time you helped your

adult complete a big task such as painting the house or moving? Or maybe you helped to load the dishwasher or folded laundry? Your adult was probably really happy about having you help even when it didn’t seem like much to you. God can use whatever we have, no matter the age to help someone else.

WEEK 3

In week 3, we head to Acts 16:13-15, where we find a successful businesswoman named Lydia. On Paul’s second journey, he headed to Philippi where he found Lydia and a group of women gathered together to pray. Paul shared the news of Jesus with Lydia, and she used her gifts to serve the believers.

Bottom Line: Use your gifts to make a difference. Can you sing or dance? Maybe you are great at encouraging others or helping them with their homework. Everyone has something they can offer or contribute to this world that helps someone else, whether it’s a big gift or a small one. So how can you use your gifts to impact someone else today?

WEEK 2

In week 2, we head to Exodus 3–4:15 for the story ofMoses. Moses had been through a LOT in his life. He was born as an Israelite but raised in the Egyptian Pharoah’s household, and when he grew older, Moses sinned and ran away from his home. Yet God saw Moses and had created him for more than he could ever imagine. Even though Moses didn’t see how special he was, God used Moses to make a difference in the lives of so many people.

Bottom Line: God made you to make a difference. Is there something you’ve always wanted to do but were too scared to do because you thought either someone else was better at it or that you weren’t good enough?Sometimes our fears can get in the way of the good God wants to do through us, but God has called us for so much more. We can make a difference because that’s how God created us.

WEEK 1

We start the our made unit in Psalm 139:1-14 where King David has just written a psalm about God’s love for us. Since he beginning, we were created in the image of God. God knew and formed the deepest parts of us, and as image bearers, God loves us no matter what.

Bottom Line: God made you, knows you, and loves you. Have you ever done one of those icebreaker questions that asks what is one thing no one else knows about you? You can probably think of at least one or two fairly quickly, but here’s the thing: God knows us better than anyone else, including ourselves. We were created by God with so much love and care. Because of that we can live holding on to that truth that we are seen.

WEEK 4

We close out the this unit in Acts 16:16-40. While Paul and Silas were preaching the message of Jesus, they were arrested and thrown into prison! All seemed hopeless, but instead of complaining and giving up, they sang songs and worshipped God.

Bottom Line: God can help you choose joy. Life can sometimes feel like a rollercoaster. There are ups and downs, highs and lows. But even in the midst of a difficult situation, we can have hope and trust that we are not alone. God can give us the strength we need to choose joy — even when it’s hard.

WEEK 3

In week 3, we turn to James 1:19 where James writes about how we should respond when situations begin to get a little out of hand. When we’re quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry, we allow ourselves to respond well so we don’t sin in our anger.

Bottom Line: When you’re angry, talk to God. Have you ever gotten so angry that you said the first thing that came to your mind and instantly regretted it? Anger doesn’t have to get the best of us. When we’re angry we need to be cautious of how we respond and go to God with our feelings.

WEEK 2

In week 2, we head to Matthew 6:25-34 for Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount. In it, Jesus reminded everyone not to worry about tomorrow because “Tomorrow will worry about itself.” Every day will have its own set of troubles, but God will provide for us, just like the birds and the flowers.

Bottom Line: When you’re worried, trust God. Have you ever seen a flower bloom or a bird find food? Just like God cares for nature, and the birds and flowers have what they need in life, God cares for us so much more! When

we let worry consume our thoughts, it can cause us to forget to notice the ways God is already working in our situations. We can trust God with anything, whether we know the outcome or not.

In Upstreet an transit -We start the month in John 11:1-45 with a peek into Jesus’ personal life. After the death of one of His friends, Jesus wept — even though He knew what would happen next. Jesus trusted that God would be with Him in His sadness and wept anyway, showing us He is there with us in our sadness too.

Bottom Line: When you’re sad, remember you’re not alone. There will be times in our lives when we will experience grief and hardships because that’s just the nature of life. However, when troubles come, we can remember that because Jesus experienced the things we experience, He knows how we feel and is with us as we work through our emotions.

Back to school Sunday Service.

Hi team this Sunday we will be creating some space during the service for you to pray for your kids as they start a new year at school. The kids will receive a special Kinder, Wiser, Braver keyring bag tag that they can proudly place on their school bags. They'll also get a 3-day devotional and 6 awesome stationary items! Three of these items are for them to keep, and three are for them to give away. These gifts serve as reminders that they have a loving family, a supportive church Whānau, and a God who is FOR them. As they begin the school year, they can carry this love with them and share it with their classmates. We can't wait to see you all there.

During the message Upstreet and transit kids go out like normal, but will combine for a time where the kids get their devotionals and chose their stationary.

Kids can bring in their school bags to put the tags on and put stationary in them.

Luke 2:1-7

Bottom Line: Celebrate because God sent a Savior. We all know that Christmas is about Jesus, but sometimes it’s easy to make it all about the lights, decorations, and presents. Those things aren’t bad, but it’s important that we stay focused on the truth of what and WHO we celebrate at Christmas. God loved us enough to send Jesus to rescue us. Knowing that can help us celebrate Jesus, the true reason for the season..

Bottom Line: Celebrate because God is with you. When God sent Jesus, it was the answer to many, many prayers and years of waiting. The people must have wondered what God was doing or if God was still working. We can feel the same way in our own lives. Yet, time and time again, we see that we can trust God no matter what, and celebrate because God sent Jesus for us.

John 1:1-5, 14

Bottom Line: God always had a plan to send Jesus. Much of what we celebrate at Christmas is an incredible reminder that God can be trusted no matter what. Since the very beginning, God made a promise to save the world and then followed through with Jesus. Because of Jesus, we can celebrate the opportunity to have a relationship with God that lasts forever.

John 8:12
Bottom Line: Jesus is the light of the world. Sometimes it’s hard to see past our current circumstances. When darkness surrounds us, how do we move forward? We take time to remember that Jesus came to be the light of the world. Jesus’ light shines so bright that darkness cannot overcome it. When Jesus died on the cross, He showed the ultimate example of compassion towards us.

Bottom Line: Make time to help others. Think back to a moment when someone helped you learn a new skill or helped you with a school project. How did you feel in that moment? When we make time to help others, we reflect Who Jesus is to them. Not only can we make a lasting impact in their life, but the act of showing compassion changes us too.

Bottom Line: Use what you have to help others. Some light is better than no light. Whether it’s a flashlight lighting up what’s in front of you or a spotlight illuminating the whole stage, each light impacts those who need it. God has given each of us something we can offer to help someone else—whether we have a lot or only a little. Any amount of light can make a difference in someone’s life.
